The Project Prom fashion show will occur February 25.
Fashion show production students will be in charge of handling nearly every aspect of the event. These tasks include designing the set, selecting music, writing press releases and creating posters.
Local retailers will supply the prom dresses with Ashley Litton, Miss Missouri USA 2004 and owner of Sassy Chic boutique in Kansas City, as the show's special guest commentator.
The show is based on prom to attract prospective students. As an added bonus, a competition has been set up between local high schools.
"Students can submit a creative expression that shows off their fashion interest and is prom related," Kirsty Buchanan, associate professor of design and fashion said.
Five finalists will be chosen and will win prom makeovers. The grand prize winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship to Stephens, a VIP prom party and a gift certificate toward limousine rental.
Entries must be submitted by February 3 and winners will be notified February 10.
