Late Plate is a new option for students who cannot make it to dinner.

By design, it aimed at for equestrian and fashion students, or students with demanding majors in general. It is known as "The Late Plate Option".

"The late plate sign up is something new we are trying as a effort to allow students that are in class or have obligations during meals to still have a chance to eat," Megan Bradshaw, the director of Fresh Ideas, said.

Students with obligations or late classes can put their name on a list located by the cashiers' stand. Each day a new menu, that includes items from the Home Zone, is placed at the stand. Lunch meals are then prepared and ready for pick up between 1 and 4 p.m. for lunch. Dinner is available from 7-7:45 p.m. The idea behind it is sound but many students complain that it's really not that convenient.

Some students such as freshman equestrian business management major Megan Hasemann, couldn't care less about Late Plate.

"The fact is," Hasemann said, "I don't get out of class until 7:30 p.m. There is no way I can get from the barn to Stamper in fifteen minuets. So that means I have to get my food at four. If I wanted cold food, I could get that without the new Late Plate Option."

Hasemann's situation is not unusual. Many other equestrian students feel the same way.

Still, whether this idea is perfectly executed or not, it represents Fresh Ideas' has been willing to work with the students and their schedules to meet their needs.  Fresh Ideas, despite much criticism, continues to try and improve their program for the comfort and convenience of students at Stephens.
