Ever wondered about the man living on our campus? He is Ryan Smith, and he is a graduate resident (GR) living and working at Stephens.
After receiving a bachelor's from MU, Smith is now set to receive a master's degree in counseling.
Smith came to Stephens for the graduate counseling program after several friends had completed it. The GR position in the Residence Life office provides experience for Smith's career as a counselor.
"The graduate resident oversees the dealings of residence life, including the supervision of resident directors and resident assistants, responding to medical and safety emergencies and crises, developing a community environment on campus and other administrative duties with the Student Office," Smith said.
In addition to these responsibilities, Smith teaches a learning strategies seminar and supervises work-study operations, such as the Doggy Daycare.
"I really feel like I am gaining a lot from my program and work, but I am also developing great relationships with the staff and student body on this campus," he said.
