The Stephens College Children's School is a private on-campus institution for pre-school and elementary children.

The majority of the students come from Columbia, but a few come from outside communities such as Hallsville, Mo. Students pay tuition to attend the Children's School.

What makes this institution so unique to the campus is that students are allowed to work for the school. Graduate students may work as graduate assistants to work within the school. Students can also help in classrooms.

"This position, the graduate assistant, is open to anyone within the graduating and continuing studies position at Stephens College," Tiffany Slusher, graduate assistant to the Children's School, said.

"It is not necessarily for education majors. Other majors are more than welcome to apply."

Perks with living on Stephens' campus during graduate studies include living in a room for free, a $1,000 stipend at the end of each month and a job for work experience.

"I think that if you are planning on getting your master's degree, Stephens has one of the best programs to work with," Slusher said.
